Dress code
Please note: expensive personal items such as mobile phones must not be brought into school.
The school colours are royal blue and grey/black.
- Royal blue embroidered polo shirt.
- Royal blue sweatshirt, fleece or cardigan.
- Grey or black trousers/skirts/shorts.
- Blue & white checked summer dress.
- Black shoes (no open toe sandals).
In accordance with the latest advice on school uniform, these colours have been chosen because they are widely available.
Hair that reaches shoulder length needs to be tied back. Parents are requested to send their children to school suitably dressed and to ensure that jewellery or makeup is not worn. Children should wear sensible flat soled shoes and not trainers.
PE
PE may take place on any day so children should have their kit with them at school every day. The following kit is required:
- Plimsolls (indoor) or trainers (outdoor).
- Gold round neck t-shirt.
- Plain black shorts.
- Plain black tracksuits may be worn for outdoor PE during the colder months.
All clothes/kits should be clearly marked with the child’s name.

Book bags and school bags
For children starting in reception a book bag will be supplied free of charge as a welcome to Ashton School. Some pre-schools issue this as a leavers’ present. Please advise the school if your child will not receive one.
Infants will need a royal blue book bag.
Juniors need a locker size bag. Please ensure your child’s bag will fit into their locker.
School Hats
Although hats are not part of the uniform during hot weather they are essential. The school sells at cost both legionnaires and baseball caps for £4.00 each. Please see the school office if you require a hat.
Junior pencil cases
Juniors need to supply their own pencil cases and contents which should be fully named. Please see the list below:

Quite often during the year children run out of supplies and end up borrowing and using up others. We have therefore decided to stock the items listed below. These will be supplied at cost and can be bought from the school office.
